ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Place and Time are honored and reimagined in the works of Transformation / Reclamation through sustained inquiry and sensorial collaboration with a continuously shifting world. With paintings, sculpture and poetry, artists Daniela Naomi Molnar and Lee Emma Running invite healing through the actions of witness, mourning and immersion in beauty. The work seeks to shift perspectives from despair to creative possibility, from trauma to wonder, from isolation to purpose.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Nebraska artist Lee Emma Running looks to roadsides as sites of wild beauty and violent accidents. For this exhibition, she repairs the bones of roadkill with glass and gold, and transforms exploded tires into elegant cast iron dinnerware.

Oregon artist and poet Daniela Naomi Molnar embraces and transforms human and other-than-human intergenerational memory by foraging for pigments in socio-ecological sacrifice zones such as former concentration camps, previously glaciated spots, and abandoned villages.

Listen to The Art of Reconnection a new podcast series produced by the Spring Creek Project, and discover more about the artists of Transformation / Reclamation.

Through conversations with each other and invited guests, hosts Lee and Daniela invite us to slow down, look deeply, and explore how places that hold the scars of human impacts not only carry the memory of loss but also the steadfastness of deep, geological time and the possibility of healing.

Transformation / Reclamation is presented with special thanks to the donors and funding partners who made the Hester Coucke Exhibitions Endowment of the Benton Community Foundation a reality. Also sponsored in part by a collaboration with Spring Creek Project and Cotyledon Connection.
