Arts Center Director Passes the Torch

Retirement Announcement and Invitation to Join the Legacy

Endowment Fund Campaign honoring Executive Director

Cynthia Spencer, 2014-2024

The Arts Center Board of Directors announces the retirement of Executive Director Cynthia Spencer, effective June 30, 2024. After leading the organization for ten years and facilitating its evolution into a “21st century arts organization” Spencer is eager to return to her own studio and pursue new creative directions while continuing to support The Arts Center (TAC) as a committed volunteer.

Spencer played a pivotal role in stabilizing TAC during her tenure. She is a driven community-builder with forty-years of working in the arts, giving her first-hand knowledge of the challenges working artists face. At TAC she weathered funding challenges, led a dedicated staff who creatively provided art opportunities to the community through the Pandemic, and persevered in putting equity-based organizational practices into place. Her broad vision and tireless efforts significantly contributed to growing enthusiasm and support for TAC in the greater Corvallis arts community. Her leadership has paved the way for the next chapter of The Arts Center inspiring creativity and equitable access to the arts.

“I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to contribute to a thriving arts ecosystem through TAC and am proud of all we have accomplished together,” said Spencer. “TAC is ready for new innovative leadership to advance the many community arts needs into the future. Our incoming ED will have very dedicated donors, staff, board, and volunteers with which to work.”
