About the Class

This dynamic class invites students to explore fashion as a form of personal and artistic expression. Over the course of the week, participants will experiment with a variety of techniques including tie-dyeing, sewing, embroidery, fabric painting, felting, jewelry making, screen printing, and upcycling secondhand materials. The focus is on reimagining wearable items—if it can be worn, it can be remixed.

Students are welcome to bring clean clothing or accessories from home they may wish to transform. All additional supplies will be provided. The class will also include a walking trip through downtown Corvallis to gather visual inspiration, so students should come prepared with water bottles, sunscreen, and a small bag or backpack.

In addition to hands-on skills, students will learn to plan designs through drawing, explore the environmental impact of the fashion industry, and consider how creative reuse can be part of more sustainable making practices. The week will conclude with a student-led fashion show and showcase, celebrating each participant’s original work with friends and family.
