About Unlocking Art
Unlocking Art is a new free community engagement program at The Arts Center that invites you to experience exhibitions in fresh and meaningful ways. Guided by trained volunteers, visitors will discover new perspectives on art — from how artists think, to creative ways of seeing, to personal connections that spark conversation. Through interactive activities and gallery encounters, Unlocking Art helps open the door to creativity, connection, and discovery for everyone.
Spark fresh ways of seeing and connecting with TAC exhibitions with volunteer lead interactive activities in TAC’s main gallery. These drop in session are free! If you have any questions, email curator@theartscenter.net.

May 26 – Liz Olson – Mending Basics
Liz is a self-taught home sewist driven by a love for creative reuse, transforming rescued textiles into tasteful garments and quilts. Her work prioritizes sustainability, resourcefulness, and keeping quality materials out of the landfill. Follow her experiments in sewing on Instagram.

June 30 – Michelle Marie – Find a Missing Button
Dr. Michelle Marie (she/her), a fourth-generation sewist, teaches Fifth Generation Sewing classes. Her approach to teaching sewing starts with the importance of using your machine correctly and emphasizes the effectiveness of sewing conventions along with the value of expressing yourself with what you make. Marie’s summer 2026 sewing classes will be held at the Corvallis Sewing Collective Studio: 221 NW 2nd Street in downtown Corvallis. Class details and registration here.
