About the Class
Dive into the world of wool sculpture through needle felting—an art form that combines precision, patience, and imagination. Students will explore the basics of character design—thinking about form, personality, and detail as they develop their own original creature or critter. From quirky fantasy beasts to gentle forest dwellers, students will shape defining features and bring their imagined characters to life in 3D.
In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of needle felting using barbed needles, felting pads, finger guards, and a variety of wool roving. We’ll cover safe tool handling, sustainable material use, and the repetitive techniques needed to sculpt solid, expressive forms.
This class is a great fit for teens who enjoy focused, meditative making processes, are curious about sculpture, and love designing characters with personality and story.
