Student Interns

The Arts Center inspires creativity and contributes to community well-being through equitable access to and engagement with the visual arts. We collaborate to offer exhibitions, learning opportunities, artist development, and cultural events centered on art, artists, and art enthusiasts in the greater Corvallis area.

The Arts Center is seeking 2-4 student interns to support our Summer Arts Adventures Program, a youth arts education program from June through August 2025. Interns will assist with classroom management and administrative tasks, gaining hands-on experience in arts education and nonprofit programming. The program offers classes for ages 6 – 18 years in a variety of arts media like clay, paint, paper arts, upcycling, and more.

Ideal candidates are students with 1+ year experience or coursework in youth education, youth programming, or the arts. Responsibilities include assisting lead instructors, engaging with students, preparing materials, and supporting program logistics. This is a great opportunity to develop education/arts administration skills, work with a creative team, and contribute to a dynamic summer arts experience for local youth. 

Roles and Responsibilities

● Assist teaching artists with materials prep before class & clean up after class

● Help maintain the safety of children

● Supervise children during classes and breaks

● Follow directions from staff supervisors and support the classroom needs of instructors

Requirements

● Able to pass background check (for safety of children)

● Must be able to arrive on time for shifts

● Attend paid training before the program starts

● Interest in working with children and art

● Ability to model positive behavior and creativity

● Ability to work with a team

● Good communication skills with supervisors

Compensation: $15/ hr. Hours will average between 25 – 33 hours/ week. Credit-based internship options are available. Faculty oversight is required. Contact curator@theartscenter.net for more details.
