About the Workshop
Join interdisciplinary artist Erika Rier for a hands-on, two-day workshop where you’ll transform simple clay plates into playful, 3D character creations. Using handbuilding techniques, you’ll craft uniquely shaped plates with expressive details and bring them to life with underglaze. Day one focuses on forming your plate using pinch or slab techniques and building character features with attachments. On day two, you’ll explore underglaze application and illustration methods to add vibrant personality to your clay creations. All materials are provided.
In this workshop, students will learn:
- Pinch and slab techniques for making plates
- Successful attachment tips
- Apply and layer underglazes to illustrate and enhance clay surfaces effectively.
