City of Corvallis Parks Maintenance Facility Public Art Project

In partnership with the City of Corvallis Parks & Recreation Department, The Arts Center is requesting qualifications from artists interested in creating a site-responsive public artwork for a new Parks Maintenance Facility located within Avery Park.

This 1% for Art opportunity invites artists to develop work that engages with the surrounding landscape and reflects the relationship between people, place, and the systems that sustain public spaces. The selected artwork will be integrated into a highly active park environment, experienced by both visitors and Parks & Recreation staff.

The project offers a unique opportunity to create work that speaks to themes of stewardship, care, and the often-unseen labor that supports shared community spaces.

About the Opportunity

The City of Corvallis seeks an artist to create a durable, site-responsive work that feels integrated into the park environment. The selected artist will work in collaboration with the project team to determine final siting and approach.

Artists are encouraged to consider how their work might:

  • Reflect connections between natural and built environments
  • Engage a broad, multi-generational public audience
  • Create moments of discovery, reflection, or delight
  • Integrate thoughtfully into an active and evolving landscape

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to professional artists based in the United States with experience in public art and site-responsive work. Artists from the Pacific Northwest are encouraged to apply.

Selection Process

All submissions will be reviewed by the 1% for Art Selection Task Force, which includes stakeholders, design professionals, City representatives, and members of the arts community.

Three finalists will be selected and invited to develop proposals for the site.
