In Memory of Merriam Frances Cummins
Merriam was a fun-loving, generous, and colorful watercolor artist. She once said, “Art has been the love of my life.” She had an artist’s eye and heart. She noticed and adored the beauty of the world. She raved about the blue sky, the way clouds moved and changed; everything in nature filled her with appreciation. Her enthusiasm helped others notice too.
Merriam also loved children. Her family joked that she had “baby-dar” and would find and connect with the baby or young child in any room. She also enjoyed volunteering in her grandchildren’s art classes thirty years ago.
Merriam’s family felt that a contribution to support youth art programs would be a wonderful way to remember and honor her memory.
The Arts Center is honored to support the creativity of youth in memory of Merriam Frances Cummins. The family’s gift will support 2018 Summer Arts Camp Scholarships in her name.
