Katie Dillard presents miniature paintings of a vast ocean, painted in a style inspired by Impressionism. Her recent body of work in “A Fresh Take on Seascapes” is about the Oregon Coast. She creates works in which viewers can recognize the beach that inspired the painting. She has chosen a miniature format to represent a subject matter of great vastness, because the contradiction to small scale for a large subject matter creates an intimacy, a quiet way to connect with a natural force.
