I push, pull, extrude, throw and hand-build my clay pieces. I use porcelain and stoneware and fire high temp and mid-range. I often include sculptural work for lidded vessels and brushwork for visual impressions. My inspiration comes from nature’s forms, textures and patterns. I am also drawn to aspects of Asian art, from the simplicity of bamboo stems and leaves to architectural features of lanterns and pagodas.
The characteristics of clay and the infinite number of variables that influence surface aesthetics continues to call out, keeping me captivated and enthused!
