Richard Behan’s photographs musicians at the Corvallis Farmers’ Market to document the cultural significance of this community gathering. The Farmers’ Market is more than plants, vegetables, and food market place. For many area residents it is a weekend ritual of breakfast or coffee, strolling the booths, and connecting with friends. The various stations of musicians are an important part of that mix. The musicians represent all kinds of styles and instruments:  jazz, fiddle, guitar, classical, vocalists, and more. The market would not have that same feel or attraction if they were not there playing.

To honor the music-makers, Behan has created a compilation of Farmers Market Music Maker portraits. The exhibit in the Corrine Woodman Gallery cannot accommodate all of musicians at the market — to see all of them you must become a regular at the Farmers’ Market.

Join us indoors, in the warmth of our Main Gallery, to share music with Farmers Market musicians in a FREE Lunch-hour Concert, Thursday, January 30, 12 noon – 1 PM.
