About the Main Gallery

The Arts Center is located in a converted church, originally built by Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan in 1889. The Main Gallery is the larger of two galleries at The Arts Center, featuring vaulted ceilings, 1100 sq. ft of oak floored space, and 150 ft. of gallery walls, re-surfaced with a glass-textile wall finish. Successful proposals appropriately consider the space and unique architecture of the building. A floor plan of the Main Gallery can be viewed here.

Information Session

Join The Arts Center Curator, Jennie Castle, for an information session via Zoom, Tuesday, January 27, 5:30 – 6:30 PM. A recording of this live session is available upon request starting January 26. To request, email curator@theartscenter.net.

Selection

Proposals submitted by the deadline will be considered for exhibitions in the Main Gallery November 2026 – December 2027.

Exhibitions are selected by TAC’s Curator and Exhibition Committee (EC). The EC is a group of volunteers made up of professional artists and passionate art enthusiasts living in the greater Corvallis area. The group help select and install TAC exhibitions. The EC is asked to review all materials submitted, and select artists who show excellence in medium and concept, as well as contribute to the mission of TAC. The EC is asked to consider the following when choosing art for the Main and Corrine Woodman Galleries:

  • Does the work meet professional standards of the medium?
  • Will the work fit in and/or fill the dimensions of the gallery?
  • Does this exhibition align with The Arts Center’s mission?
  • Will the Greater Corvallis community be engaged and enriched by this work?
  • Is this work timely, and therefore ideal for a contemporary art space?

 Responsibilities of the Artist

  • Artists are responsible for all costs related to delivery of art work to and from The Arts Center.
  • Artists are required to deliver art work with the Artist’s name, title, email and phone number secured to each piece.
  • Two-dimensional art should be wired, and be ready to hang on the wall; three-dimensional art should be stable and safe.
  • Less conventional hanging methods with clips, magnets, etc should be cleared with the curator prior to install. The artist must supply special hanging supplies and give clear instructions.
  • Images and statements will be requested from the artist for marketing and promotional purposes. The artist retains copyright to the original artwork. TAC owns any marketing materials produced at our cost.
  • Artists are encouraged, but not required, to display works for sale. The Arts Center’s commission rate is a 50/50 split with the artists. Arrangements for artists with exclusive gallery commitments are possible.
