John Byrnes’ speciality includes plays for young actors that involve the cast in all parts of the production:  Sets, script development, props, costuming, programs and tickets as well as acting (good roles for all), rehearsal and then putting on the show. The productions can be done in school, after school and camp settings, or in any empty space.


John Byrne lives in Albany, Oregon. He writes plays for actors, both young and adult. He has long-time experience working with youth in developing and producing plays that involve everyone in all aspects of staging as original dramas He has overseen play programs in local schools, outdoor, and summer arts camps. His scripts have been used in camp and school programs at many different locations.

John’s plays for adults have been published and staged locally, and in twelve states around the United States. He is a founder and active member of the Majestic Playwrights Lab which brings area playwrights together to help develop and improve scripts. John’s scripts “Holy Impulse” and “As You Like It or Whatever” were both produced at the Majestic in 2016.
