About the Class
Discover the creative potential of clay in this hands-on class with local potter and educator Annelie Haberman. Students will learn foundational ceramic techniques such as slab and coil building, sculpting, texturing, slip trailing, and “scratch and attach” methods used by professional artists. With these skills, students can bring their own ideas to life—whether it’s functional pieces like mugs and bowls, decorative projects like flower tiles and luminaries, or sculptural creatures like dragons, wizards, and original characters. This class encourages imagination and individual expression while building confidence with clay through guided practice.
About the Instructor
Annelie Haberman is a bilingual educator and the current president of the Willamette Ceramics Guild. She began her ceramics journey in Corvallis at the Crescent Valley High School pottery studio and has been working with clay for over a decade. Annelie creates functional pottery and small, whimsical sculptures, which she regularly showcases at local art events such as the Corvallis Fall Festival. Annelie delights in the tactile and boundless creativity that clay offers and finds joy in sharing those ceramic skills with young artists.
