About the artist...
From November 10 – 14, 2010 with an opening on the evening of November 9 we will open our Main Gallery to The Arts Center’s Festival of Guilds Holiday Sale and Performance. The Corvallis Art Guild, the Willamette Ceramics Guild, the Mid-Willamette Wood Workers Guild, the PhotoArts Guild, the Contemporary Fiber Arts Guild, the Corvallis Hand-weavers and Spinners Guild and the Corvallis Belly Dance Performance Guild come together to show their work and talents in a holiday sale. The Belly Dance Guild will perform on the opening night. It is a great opportunity to see what artists in the different Guilds have to offer, and to do some holiday shopping.
On the initiative of a few of the Guilds we came together to make this event happen. Are we coming full circle? The Arts Center and the seven affiliated Guilds have a long history together, and one of the first exhibits of The Arts Center was a holiday sale. But the idea of a holiday sale never gets old. The artwork will be shown integrated, as opposed to different booths as in most holiday markets. The fine art on the wall will be combined with the applied art in ceramics, fiber work and furniture pieces, just as it would be in a residential setting. The sale will have guild members present to talk with you about their work, and some of them will be working away on future pieces.
All participating artists show their support of The Arts Center by being members.
